  • About this opportunity

    Electrical or Mechanical Engineer (Internal Consultant) will provide specialist support across our Project Management, Cost Management and Technical Due Diligence service delivery in Portugal.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Supporting Business Unit Directors in delivering projects objectives.
    • Positively engaging with Customers and developing, growing and maintaining Customer relationships.
    • Delivering high-quality services and ensuring that deliverables meet Customers’ requirements.
    • Acting as the primary point of contact for internal teams, providing expert advice on electrical or mechanical systems in buildings.
    • Working with the Cost Management team to develop accurate cost estimates and keeps cost control for electrical or mechanical installations, ensuring alignment with project financial goals.
    • Preparing detailed performance specifications for electrical or mechanical systems to support tendering and procurement processes.
    • Conducting site inspections of works in progress to verify compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
    • Performing technical due diligence assessments of electrical or mechanical systems as part of property evaluations, identifying risks and potential issues.
    • Producing technical specifications and drawings for tender purposes, ensuring clarity and compliance with project requirements.
    • Identifying potential risks related to electrical or mechanical systems during project planning and delivery, proposing practical solutions to mitigate issues.
    • Supporting the local team in preparing proposals and sub-consultant appointment documents, tracking projects from inception to completion.
    • Advising Directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or that might arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

  • Who we’re looking for:

    Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building services engineering, ideally within the construction or consultancy sector.
    • Experience in Real Estate (Buildings) construction projects in Portugal.
    • Strong knowledge of national technical requirements and legislation impacting building services in Portugal.
    • Previous experience in design is a plus.
    • Detailed knowledge of buildings mechanical and/or electrical installations.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
    • Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Ability to work as part of a team.
    • High level of English and Portuguese.
    • Eligible to work in Portugal.

    Qualifications

    • Engineering degree - Electrical or Mechanical.
