  • About this opportunity

    Senior professional responsible for shaping the early stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring robust procurement strategies, contract frameworks, and cost certainty before construction begins. 

    Location: Marseille

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Supporting Business Unit Directors in delivering business objectives.
    • Positively engaging with Customers and developing, growing and maintaining Customer relationships.
    • Delivering high-quality services and ensuring that project management deliverables meet Customers’ requirements and business procedures.
    • Leading pre-contract activities, including the development of procurement strategies, tender documentation, and contract structures for a high-value data centre project.
    • Managing the preparation and evaluation of invitations to tender, ensuring compliance with French procurement rules and regulations, as well as international standards where applicable.
    • Providing expert advice on contract selection and drafting, with a strong understanding of standard forms (e.g., FIDIC, local French contracts) and bespoke agreements tailored to data centre requirements.
    • Overseeing cost planning and risk assessment during the pre-contract phase, collaborating with cost management teams to establish budgets and mitigate potential issues.
    • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and alignment on project objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Driving negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and consultants to secure favourable terms while maintaining quality and compliance.
    • Ensuring all pre-contract processes align with Gleeds’ standards, client expectations, and local legal frameworks.
      Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and excellence within the project team.
    • Advising Directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or that might arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

  • Who we’re looking for:

    Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

    • Proven background in project management or cost management within the construction sector, with specific experience in pre-contract phases.
    • Experience in high-value or technical projects (e.g., data centres, infrastructure, industrial).
    • Strong knowledge of contracts and procurement rules, particularly in the French construction market or similar regulatory environments.
    • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
    • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
    • Excellent problem solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy skills
    • Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Ability to manage diverse teams and drive project outcomes under pressure.
    • Professional level of English.
    • Fluency in French is desirable.

    Qualifications

    • University degree - Engineering, Construction management or similar.
