About this Opportunity

Gleeds is well established in all areas within the Energy sector and part of our strategic growth plan is to expand our services within Clean Energy and develop this into a key sector.

To support formulating and then the delivery of this plan which will include both hands of delivery and business development, we are recruiting for a Director level hire to join the team that has previous experience in Net Zero energy projects, including large-scale wind, solar, hydrogen, CCUS and other energy transition initiatives from either a commercial, procurement, project controls or project/programme management discipline.

This role can be based anywhere in the UK however there will be an element of travel to meet clients and manage the wider team.

The key responsibilities for this role are:

  • Formulating and managing strategies to deliver the business objectives.
  • Actively identifying and bidding new business development opportunities and driving growth across the Business Unit’s activities.
  • Ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with Gleeds processes and procedures (governance and controls).
  • Managing employees, focusing on retention and development.
  • Developing and enhancing Gleeds capability in the Energy sectors.
  • Briefing employees on relevant aspects of Gleeds business.
  • Preparing bids for services.
  • Managing service delivery for profit.
  • Agreeing fees and charges for potential services with Regional Managing Director.
  • Delivering high quality services and deliverables ensuring that services meet our Customer’s requirements.
  • Reviewing scope of appointments on a monthly basis to ensure services are being delivered in accordance with appointments
  • Managing and maintaining Customer relationships (i.e. Clients, business partners and other consultants). Ensuring a Customer care plan is in place, supporting a specific and targeted key account plan.

About You

Who we're looking for

  • Passion for the Clean Energy sector
  • Extensive project control, project, and cost management experience
  • Detailed knowledge and practical experience of development of programmes in the clean energy sector, including knowledge of complex funding and commercial arrangements, interface with government, and understanding of national strategy relating to enabling infrastructure
  • Detailed knowledge and practical experience of cost estimating and cost planning techniques
  • Detailed knowledge and practical experience of project management and project controls techniques
  • Sound practical knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Excellent knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience of administering construction contracts.
  • Clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts.
  • Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily.
  • Proficient networker.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should ideally be HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Engineering, Quantity Surveying / Cost Management, Construction Law, or similar / relevant discipline, or in some case applicants with an alternative background may be considered.
  • Professional qualifications and/or membership of the APM, RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS, ACostE or other relevant Chartered Institute are desirable, and will be supported if not already attained.
