  • Project Planner - Newcastle - England 

    About this opportunity

    Gleeds have been successful in securing a number of major projects/programmes wins within the public, private and central government sector to support providing professional services. 

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Planner to join our team in either our Newcastle, Leeds or Manchester office. You’ll be working within a sociable environment and be part of a dynamic Project and Programme Management team.

    You will be responsible for managing project programmes for delivery of mixed use, complex commercial buildings in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester and the wider North region. This is a pivotal, hybrid role where you will contribute to the project’s success through your meticulous planning and scheduling capabilities managing the construction programme and working closely with the Project Managers, Central Team and Client. We expect you to have a proven track record of using multiple planning software applications (P6, Asta, MS Project) in commercial property development and construction.

    You will provide excellent communication and collaboration with colleagues, programme leads, client representatives, consultants and contractors on site to effectively deliver projects from inception to completion.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Supporting Business Unit Directors in delivering business objectives
    • Positively engaging with customers and developing, growing and maintaining customer relationships
    • Delivering high quality services and deliverables ensuring that services meet our customer’s requirements.
    • Managing project schedules/programmes to deliver high quality services and deliverables in accordance with the business procedures
    • Producing and presenting periodic reports to customers and the delivery team
    • Advising the PM and Central teams promptly of any issues that have arisen, or may arise, on projects by using sound programme and schedule analysis techniques
    • Track and monitor all variances on the projects to feed into periodic reporting cycle
    • Challenge contractor programmes analysing logic and conduct risk analysis
    • Be flexible to the demands of the project and requirements of our client and delivery team

  • Who we’re looking for:

    Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

    • 2-4 years minimum of project/programme planning experience ideally with professional qualification.
    • Sound knowledge and practiced experience of project planning techniques
    • Ability to administer all manner of data feeding into the construction schedule
    • Clear understanding of NEC/JCT building contracts.
    • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
    • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
    • Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily.
    • Excellent capability using P6, Asta and Microsoft Project with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Experience of using Power BI and AI tools (preferred)
    • Ability to work as part of a team and manage teams.
    • Must be based in region and eligible to work in the UK

    Qualifications

    • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or
    • MAPM (Member of the Association of Project Managers) or
    • MCIOB (Member of the Chartered Institute of Builders) or
    • PPC (Project Planning and Controls) Certification or
    • Other (specific to Project Planning and Scheduling
