At Gleeds, we’re looking for a visionary Director of Building Surveying.

As a key member of the Gleeds senior leadership team, you’ll act as a trusted ambassador for the business, driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and client satisfaction.

This is a pivotal leadership role, overseeing major project delivery, team development, and commercial performance across the Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership:
  Define and execute strategies to meet and exceed business objectives, working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.
• Business Development:
  Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities to drive growth within the Building Surveying service line
• Project Governance:
  Ensure projects adhere to Gleeds' standards, governance frameworks, and quality assurance processes from initiation to completion.
• Commercial Oversight:
  Negotiate and agree fee proposals and service scopes. Oversee all commercial aspects of project delivery, including profitability, invoicing, and debt management.
• Client Relationship Management:
  Maintain and grow strong relationships with clients, partners, and consultants. Lead on resolving client issues and ensuring exceptional service delivery.
• Operational Management:
  Ensure the right resources are in place for project delivery. Manage resource planning, workload allocation, and resolve conflicts collaboratively across teams.
• Team Leadership & Development:
  Lead and support a high-performing team. Oversee performance management, training, development, and retention of staff, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.
• Service Excellence:
  Champion quality in all deliverables. Regularly review appointment scopes to ensure alignment with client expectations and project requirements.
• Bid Management:
  Lead the preparation of competitive and compelling bids for new work, working closely with colleagues and the wider Gleeds business.
• Collaboration:
  Work collaboratively with fellow Directors and senior leaders to support wider business objectives and contribute to the success of the regional unit.

Who we’re looking for:

• Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with significant post-qualification experience
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Proven experience delivering complex building surveying projects
• Commercially astute with a track record of profitable project delivery
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills
• Demonstrated ability to drive business growth and lead high-performing teams
