About The Role

About this opportunity;

Working within the Utilities Specialist Team the role will require an interest in learning about the Utilities sector and more generally assisting in all cost and procurement management processes. The opportunity exists to participate in the Gleeds’ internal APC preparation programme and self-development training packages, in readiness for attaining Chartered status Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent and relevant.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•Assisting Cost Managers in the preparation of:

•Order of cost estimates and option studies.

•Cost plans.

•Utility asset searches and report preparation

•Tender documentation and managing the tender process.

•Assisting in the evaluation and reporting of tenders.

Valuation of completed work and arranging for payments.

•Preparation and settlement of final accounts.

•Administration of construction contracts.

•Preparation of reports to customers.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Attaining Chartered status Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent and relevant.

About You

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills;

Develop knowledge and further post graduate practice experience in the following:

•Utilities services regulation and legislation.

•Cost estimating.

•Cost planning.

•Value engineering.

•Procurement.

•Tendering

•Post-contract cost control.

•Administration of different forms of construction contract.

Demonstrate:

•Clear and effective communication skills - both oral and written.

•Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.

•Good organisation, problem solving and negotiating skills.

•Financial and numeracy management skills.

•Sound ICT skills, with a good level of proficiency in MS Office packages.

•Be able to work as part of a team.

Qualifications

You will hold a RICS exempting or non-exempting degree, plus industry experience preferred. ICS exempting
